Biography – Thierry Miroglio

Since several years Thierry Miroglio is realizing a brilliant solo career where he is invited to give in more than forty countries recitals and solo concerts in numerous venues and prestigious Festivals such as Salzburg, Philharmonie Berlin, New York, Wien Konzerthaus, Boston, Besançon, San Francisco, Munich, Schleswig Holstein, Madrid, Rom, Tokyo, Milan, Zagreb, Nice, Köln, Paris, Hamburg, Athen, Sao Paulo, Lisbon, Monte Carlo Printemps des Arts, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires Colon Theater, Genève, Brugge Concertgebouw, Bucarest Atheneum, Peking, Amsterdam, Linz Brucknerhaus, Rio, Darmstadt, Helsinki, Johannesburg, Mexico, Seoul, Shanghai, Moscow, Biennal of Venice …

He has collaborated with many different studios of electroacoustic music research (Ircam, Grm, Keams Seoul, Eamc Shanghai, Beams Boston, Cemc Peking…), and gives recitals which join Music, Visual and Numeric Arts, also related to other artistic forms such as Theater (S.Monfort) and Dance (J.Cl.Gallotta, Trisha Brown).

Numerous international radio and television stations have recorded his concerts or realized productions and recordings with his participation (recently the Saarbrücken German Radio dedicated him one broadcasting, Radio France, one Portrait contemporain ).

Transmission

Professor of Percussion at the Darius Milhaud Conservatory in Paris, vice president of french section ISCM committee, director of percussion collection at Jobert Editions (Paris), Thierry Miroglio gives masterclasses, lectures and seminars about contemporary percussion in many countries. He founded, as Artistic Director, the International Meeting of Percussion, is organizing the Nuits de la Fondation Maeght in St Paul de Vence as artistic advisor.

Solo Percussion and orchestra

He has recorded more than fifty CD’s as a soloist for various international labels, including a CD devoted to solo works, published in the Collection Musique Francaise d’Aujourd’hui ( coproduction Radio France /Sacem / French Ministry of Culture ), one to dedicated works by Saariaho and recently The World of Percussion by Naxos.

Among some other of his important activities we can notice the premiere of the last work by Iannis Xenakis for solo percussion and ensemble, world premieres of different percussion concerti by Marlos Nobre, Regis Campo, Enrico Correggia, Hans Tutschku, Francis Miroglio, Petros Korelis, Dominique Lemaître, Joyce Tang… national premieres of Darius Milhaud, Andre Jolivet concerti with numerous orchestras like Sao Paulo State Symphony OSESP, Comunidad Madrid, Sinfonica Nacional Brasil, Nazionale del Lazio/Santa Cecilia Roma, Encuentros Buenos Aires, National Paraiba, Ensemble 2E2M Paris, Orchestra del Trentino, National Goias, Les Solistes de Monte Carlo, Macau String Orchestra, Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain, national Colombian Orquestra, Hong Kong City Chamber… and numerous recitals tours in Europe, Asia, South America , Africa and USA. 

Thierry Miroglio pursued percussion studies with the eminent soloists Jean-Pierre Drouet and Sylvio Gualda, with whom he obtained a first Prize at the National Conservatory of Versailles, musical acoustics at the Sorbonne with Iannis Xenakis. He studied harmony and counterpoint, received First Prize for chamber music at the National Conservatory of Boulogne-Billancourt.

He is working in close collaboration with the world well-known company Cadeson instruments, with whom he is playing.
